Movie Synopsis:
With her biographical documentary Territories, director Mary Ellen Davis profiles photographer Larry Towell, arguably the most skilled and astute photojournalist in early 21st century Canada. A key contributing member to the exclusive photo agency Magnum (home to such heavyweights as the now-deceased Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa), Towell built his reputation stone-by-stone, vacillating between subjects both intimate (such as his own family) and sweeping, but all given peerless immediacy through the camera lens.
